2000 - 2011 Strong growth and new investments

On 19 August Jan Hugo Stenbeck passes away. Edvard von Horn becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kinnevik.
February 2004 it is announced that the Boards of Invik & Co. AB and Industriförvaltnings AB Kinnevik have prepared a joint merger plan for the companies. In July the merger is completed and at the Extraordinary Meeting on 26 August it is decided that the company’s name should be changed to Investment AB Kinnevik. At the same time Pehr G Gyllenhammar is elected as Chairman. In May 2007, Cristina Stenbeck succeeds Pehr G Gyllenhammar as Chairman of theBoard.

Many of the investments Kinnevis began making 20 years ago have grown into large, profitable mobile operators around the world. Millicom and Tele2 with 75 million subscribers as of September 2011.
Parallel to this Kinnevik are focusing on new investments in online, agriculture, microfinance and renewable energy. The new investments are growing rapidly in size and after a few years Kinnevik invests one billion in 2009, 2010 the amount increases of further and in 2011, about 3 billion will be invested.
